By staying in Baqueira itself, you will benefit from proximity to the slopes and high quality accommodation. The older buildings certainly wouldn't win any design awards but the recent developments are much more sensitive to the true architectural heritage of the valley. These developments have increased the size of Baqueira by another 50% and added some high quality hotels and shops. Some of the bars and shops are hidden behind the main complex so it's worth exploring. Remember the Spanish siestas!!! Everywhere is shut between approximately 1pm and 5pm but they re-open in the evenings. If you are driving up to the resort from further down the valley, the main car park has a small diesel train which takes clients up from the car park to the lifts.

The lift stations are all close to our accommodation options. All lifts (a chair and a gondola) originating in Baqueira are designed so that you don't have to be attached to your skis and are therefore beginner and pedestrian friendly.

If you are staying in our Hotel-chalet (link) or La Pleta then you will be in Tanau 1700, the area about 2 miles from Baqueira centre. This is an exclusive area where the King of Spain has a chalet and is serviced by its own 2 man chairlift.

The lifts take you up to the 1800m level from where you can enter the main slopes. At the top of these lifts are also 2 big restaurants and a small locker complex.
